A really odd, small and in the end emotionally rewarding film, distinguished by an indepth examination of the reality of life as a midget. Peter Dinklage leads as a 120cm tall middle-aged train enthusiast whose only friend and employer dies suddenly, leaving him a rural plot of land with an old train depot. Going there helps him to withdraw further from a society he feels has rejected him pretty thoroughly - kids push him around, normal-sized men call him names, everybody stares. But in the new small-town community he finds a friend in Patricia Clarkson's grieving artist - distraught over the death of her young son. This pair in turn are helped into friendship by local motormouth and hot dog salesman Joe. It takes a while to get going, but the message is simple and strong and the relationships in the end pretty genuine.
